Are you a researcher in the CSU STEM community with children/dependents? OVPR and Provost’s Office recently awarded funds to promote continued research during the Covid-19 pandemic for parent scientists. Researchers who are parents must balance their own research with their new roles as at-home teaching assistants for children who are in remote schooling during the Covid-19 Pandemic.
What does this study entail? As a CSU researcher parent, you will be provided funds, which can be put towards hiring an undergraduate Covid Learning Coach (CLC) to help support your children/dependents undergoing online schooling and/or continued summer education. The funds will be granted through the participation of a pre/post survey and interview. CLCs are CSU STEM undergraduates participating in a professional development series to develop their science teaching skills. These CLCs are available for you to hire to support children/dependents undergoing online or out-of-school education over the summer (CSU cannot hire them directly for this). We suggest a rate of $15/hr. Funds are provided to parent researchers through the participation of this study based on a sliding scale of participation.
