Paid Research Participant Opportunity: Covid Learning Coach Summer 2021

Interested in exploring the teaching profession? Apply to be a paid research participant in our Covid Learning Coach (CLC) study for the 2021 summer session, funded by OVPR!

With the various pressures of the Covid-19 pandemic, online learning for K-12 students presents a huge burden to parents. Our CSU parent community needs your help! As a CLC, you will become an ideal candidate for one-on-one tutoring positions within the CSU parent community. Apply to become a CLC today!

 

What does this study entail? As a CLC, you will participate in a professional development workshops series, each 1-hour long, centered around science teaching & pedagogy. You will participate in a survey before/after workshop attendance and will be compensated up to $50 per workshop (full possible compensation = $450).** Your professional education skills as a CLC will be advertised for hire to CSU faculty/staff/researchers with children in K-12 schooling for tutoring/educational support. 

 

Professional Development Workshop Series:  The professional development workshop series will focus on a different topic within the science teaching field every week. These topics will include curriculum and lesson planning, instructional delivery, assessment, communication, accommodations and differentiation, classroom management, and health and safety protocols with Covid.

Time Commitment: 6 different, 1 hour workshops occurring throughout the summer session 2021 (May-August)

Start Time: May 2021

**Compensation: Compensation is a sliding scale based on level of participation in this study. 

·         Attending a PD workshop = $50 (6 total = $300)

·         Participating in interview = $50 (2 total = $100)

·         Participating in surveys = $25 (2 total = $50)

·         Full participation (6 PD workshops, 2 Interviews, 2 surveys) = $450

 

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate major in STEM discipline (minimum GPA 3.0)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially with K-8 grade level students, experience preferred
  • Well-organized, responsible, and collaborative
  • Be able to manage multiple assignments, set priorities, meet deadlines
  • Has transportation to and from tutoring site
  • [Must be able to pass the required background check with Poudre School District]

Preferred Skills, Experience, and Qualifications:

  • Formal or informal experience working with K-8 students
  • Desire to explore and develop a profession in education
